A lamentable update to my previous Journal:

As even most "educated" people nowadays are misinformed if not ignorant about what the words/terms capitalism, socialism, communism, and even fascism intrinsically mean (though most do realize fascism equates with dictatorship) allow me a brief elucidation, if I may. These various systems are not so much political ideologies of government as they are economic principled systems, albeit the two are inexorably intertwined. Capitalists in the 19th Century loathed Marx’s ideas, of course (still do), notwithstanding his criticisms of its abuses were true. But with the advent of the 20th Century and all the governments/countries since calling themselves socialist or communist being in reality oppressive dictatorships, the words/terms understandably became understood as synonyms for tyranny, and particularly in capitalist democratic countries/societies where the propaganda insured it. Capitalism sees the economic thinking of socialistic ideals as anathema to unlimited free enterprise (which is not to say socialism will necessarily work better even if more humane; human nature corrupts all systems). Capitalism works best in an at least ostensibly democratic political systems because its ideals of self-determination can be (and are) manipulated in the minds of the voters to give them (the plutocrats) "lez e fair", allegedly for the benefit of the voters. Given humans’ iniquitous nature, it doesn’t truly benefit them, of course, and so when the disparity between the haves and have nots becomes unconscionable, this inevitably sets the stage for a charismatic “messiah” to take advantage of it and try to, if not actually do so, install an authoritarian regime, using the deceit it’s to “save” the country’s “ideals” for the people and so restore its greatness. Even if at first unsuccessful, this causes chaos in the culture invariably leading to economic/societal collapse, war, and worse. This always happens during times of major crisises, like now. Alas, given the severity of the all the problems we have now and our willfully insane refusal to deal with them correctly for the sake of profit which buys the ruling classes’ their power, I’m loath to say our future globally is indeed dire...
